The focus of my classes:  To have fun with your dog while establishing the team bond that is needed in dog sports.  I firmly believe that your dog is your pet and family member first and your teammate second. Agility or any dog sport should be fun for both members of the team.

Why I play / train dog sports:   I participate in dog sports because it keeps my dogs healthy, happy and mentally stimulated. It has also helped to build a strong bond between my dogs and me and has helped us to communicate with each other better.  Most importantly, when I play with my dogs, I have FUN and I laugh, and I love their company.

Why I compete in agility: I compete in agility because I love the thrill of walking into the ring and running my dogs and seeing the smile on their faces. I love the challenge of the courses and like to put my handling skills and team work  to the test.  I love to work on the goal of achieving the next level and solving the problems that may arise along the way, no matter how frustrating they may be.

About Maureen: I am a high school Biology and Human Anatomy teacher in my "other" life.  I have a BS in Sports Biology from Springfield College and an MS is Special Education from SUNY New Paltz. I am a NYS permanently certified teacher in the areas of 7-12 Biology, General Science & Special Education. My current tenure is at Kingston High School in Kingston, NY.  My undergrad work was centered around human anatomy & physiology, rehabilitation and movement sciences.

I started agility training in 1996 with Kodygirl, my now 13 year-old All American rescue and have since added (now)7 year-old, Nika Blue Eyes, a Siberian Husky rescue to our pack.  In July 2007, 6 week-old,  deHaan's Gimme Shelter ~Kiva the Diva~ an All-American rescue joined our pack and we couldn't be happier!
